K.A. Gillett writes middle grade fantasy novels, and science fiction and fantasy short stories for adults. Her story, "The Bird Reader's Granddaughter," won a 2008 Writers of the Future award. She has a story published in 2034: Writing Rochester's Futures and in Rochester Rewritten: Visions of Alternative Rochesters. "Windbaiter" appears in the anthology, The Muse's Hand. "Swarm, the Queen Commanded" appeared in the 2014 April Fools' edition of Daily Science Fiction. "Private: No Parents Allowed" appeared in the January 2015 issue of Abyss & Apex.

She is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (SFWA), the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Rochester Area Children's Writers and Illustrators (RACWI), and is a founding member of R-SPEC, the Rochester Speculative Literature Association. Her critique groups include D-309 and the Genesee Writers Guild. 

A beachcomber at heart, K.A. Gillett writes and lives on the shores of Lake Ontario with her husband.
